Ride Report:

Ride Date: 5/30/20 Croaker 7E is one of the most complete loops, visiting almost all of the locations along the York River and even heading all the way out to the end of the road. ——— I stopped at the KOA campground for a picture since it is the marker of the start of the big hill down to Barlows Pond. The flowers of May were blooming just to the right of where I stopped, so naturally, they smiled as I pulled out my camera. ——— Somehow, Stewardship Forest seemed like an appropriate sign for this trip, for we are stewards of our woods and the paths through them. It made me reflect on how wonderful it has been to ride here in Eastern Virginia. ——— Down at York River Park, I stopped for a snack and to admire the view from the Amphitheater and the gazebo was a wonderful spot to reflect on the month of riding: my longest rides ever, including a metric century, the diverse areas, the rivers, ponds, and lakes. This was a big high note to go out on. ——— At the bottom of Croaker Landing, I again saw Ranger Brad we chatted a while. As late afternoon turned toward evening, the air cooled and I said goodbye, hoping to make it back to the car before the rains. I climbed Croaker Landing’s steep grade and wheeled my way back to the starting point. Just in time! The rains once again prompted me to quickly put the seat in and fold the trike into the GTI. My last ride for May done.
