Bike Rodeo
Description
There will be a free bicycle rodeo offered to children ages 5-13 on Saturday, June 17, at the Williamsburg Community Chapel parking lot, 9 am - 12 pm. A Bike Rodeo is a bike riding skills instruction event which teaches novice riders basic and intermediate cycling skills. Held outdoors, the event consists of 6-8 riding stations, each of which teaches a distinct skill. Topics include: safely starting and stopping your bike, checking the ABC's of your bike, proper turning and signaling, riding in circles, riding on a narrow path, avoiding obstacles, and riding across intersections.
The session will be led by Dean Blair, LCI, of bicyclesafetytrainingofva.com with assistance from Griff Steel, Chair, Bikewalk Williamsburg, with volunteers from BWW, BCOW, and others.
Please bring your child's bike (no e-bikes), a helmet, and close-toed shoes. Parents are asked to stay for the entire session. Bathrooms are available at the site.
