Hampton Roads Winery Ride

Join us in the third installment of our series of rides which couple bicycling with after ride wine tasting and socializing at area vineyards.  The Hampton Roads Vineyard and Winery is situated near Elberon, Va, which is located about 6 miles south of Surry.  The grand opening at this site was in April, 2016.  They feature several different white and red wines, ranging from dry to sweet.  

Because the driveway to the winery is gravel, we will be starting from  the Surry County High School, a 15 min ride from the Ferry and less than 2 miles from the winery.  We will have both a B and C paced ride, starting at 9:30 AM from the High School.  

Please park in the lot to the left of the main HS entrance off Hollybush Rd.

After returning to the High School, you are invited to drive the 2 miles over to the winery to do a tasting or enjoy a glass of wine or a slushy!  

NOTE:  A limited amount of crackers and cheese will be provided but there will be no food service available at the winery so you are encouraged to pack a lunch to enjoy on the winery grounds.  Picnic tables are available.

If you are coming over across from Jamestown on the ferry, the 8:35 AM ferry should get you to the High School about 15 minutes prior to the planned ride start time of 9:30.

A limited number of printed Cue Sheets will be available at the start.  If the ride is cancelled due to weather, a Message Board post will be made NLT 7:30 AM the morning of the ride.
