2022 Bikes out of Hibernation

For the last several years, WAB and James City County have sponsored the Bikes Out of Hibernation Event. This is a FREE event open to the community. Several area bicycle shops offer FREE bicycle safety inspections and minor adjustments. WAB offers FREE helmets and helmet fitting.

This year, BikeWalk Williamsburg is also co-sponsoring the event and it will be held in conjunction with Pedal the Parkway on Saturday, April 23rd from 9 AM to 1 PM in the Jamestown Settlement parking lot. Pedal the Parkway will actually span 3 days, from Friday, 4/22 @ 7 AM to Sunday 4/24 @ 6 PM. During this period the Parkway will be closed to motor vehicle traffic between Jamestown and Highway 199/Kingspoint.

Please note that these are average speeds for the duration of the ride. If you are new to club rides and aren't sure what pace you can maintain, be conservative with your first ride! Direct all questions, cancellations or updates to our ride coordinator at ridecoordinator@wabonline.org

Helmets are required on all WAB rides.

Registration is required for all WAB rides. Pre-registration online accomplishes the following: 1) the ride leader and other participants know who is coming; 2) you are eligible for club insurance in the event of an accident (non-members 1st ride only); 3) you accept the risks involved in riding; 4) you provide necessary legal protection for club leadership and ride leaders, and 5) we have an easy means to communicate in event of a change or cancellation.
