The "Waverly Ride" has been a monthly ride on the 2nd Saturday of the month since the 1990s, along wonderfully flat, rural roads that are, for the most part, traffic-free. In recent years, it's become a joint WAB / RABA ride.
RABA member Sara Page will lead the B-pace group. Andy Ballentine will lead the C-pace group. This month: a 52-mile ride, featuring 2 rest stops, as well as a quick stop to check out the cannon left in Stony Creek by retreating Confederates in 1864! The cue sheet is in the WAB ride library.
The ride begins and ends in the little town of Waverly, VA. Take the 8:10 AM ferry, go through the town of Surry, take a right on Rt. 10 and a left on Rt. 40 which takes you to Waverly. Park behind the closed restaurant, at the intersection of Rt. 40 and Rt. 460, on the left. After the ride many, from the group enjoy lunch together at Pino's in Waverly.
Andy's contact info is 757-645-7961; andyballentine@.yahoo.com.
