Description

CANCELLED DUE TO RAINY WEATHER

Join Reed & Karen Nester for a leisurely 20-mile ride from the Newport News Park Campground to Yorktown and back with lunch at the midpoint of the ride in Yorktown. The route will traverse the 5-mile dirt bike path in the park, and will connect to the Yorktown Battlefield roads at Washington's Headquarters. Most of the ride will be on the Battlefield roads. Because of the 5-miles on the dirt bike path, wider tires as on hybrid bikes are recommended. The ride start is at the Newport News Park Campground, 13564 Jefferson Avenue (Rt. 143), Newport News, VA 23603. We will meet in the parking lot just past the Park Maintenance Building. If you have a Golden Eagle Pass or Senior Pass please bring it with you - these passes are good for yourself and three guests. There have been instances where cyclists have been asked to show passes when riding on the Battlefield roads. For additional information contact Reed Nester at reednester@gmail.com, or 846-0121.

Helmets are required on all WAB rides.
 
Registration is required for all WAB rides.  Pre-registration online accomplishes the following: 1) the ride leader and other participants know who is coming; 2) you are eligible for club insurance in the event of an accident (non-members 1st ride only); 3) you accept the risks involved in riding; 4) you provide necessary legal protection for club leadership and ride leaders,  and 5) we have an easy means to communicate in event of a change or cancellation.   Please familiarize yourself with the waiver on the registration page.
