With the advent of social media, especially Facebook Groups, you may wonder why pay dues to join a formal bicycle club.
- Most area bicycle shops extend a 10% discount on accessories and clothing to club members. At this time, Contes, Bikes Unlimited, Red Barn and Bike the Burg all extend the discount. In general bicycles are excluded but most other items are included. To get the discount, just show your WAB membership card. To download and print your membership card, log in to the website using your Username and password. Then click on My Account->Print My Membership Card on the Top Menu.

- The Flying Wheel newsletter sent to members monthly lists upcoming rides & events, human interest stories, website tips, updates on club initiatives and other topics of interest.
- The Message Board provides a way to keep up to date on ride announcements such as "pop-up" rides and weather related ride cancellations. You can opt to receive e-Mail notifications anytime a new post is made to the Message Board. You can also opt to receive a daily digest e-Mail which summarizes all posts made over the prior 24 hours. The daily digest is sent at 7:30 AM daily.
- We over over 200 rides per year of various paces and distances. Rides are categorized by pace and distance, providing options for a wide range of abilities. Check out our website calendar to see a listing of past and upcoming rides. Club members on club rides are covered by Accident Medical insurance that will pay up to $25,000 in medical expenses not paid by your primary medical insurance provider.
- In addition to our regularly scheduled weekly rides, we schedule many "special" rides, often involving some form of eating and/or drinking! We frequently launch from a local eatery, brewery or winery and socialize afterwards. Annually, we do an overnight ride from Jamestown to Richmond. Club members also do multi-day tours together such as Cycle North Carolina and Bike Virginia.
- An extensive Route Library is available to members. WAB has a Club Account with Ride With GPS which provides premium features to club members. Over 250 routes in the Williamsburg and surrounding areas (James City, Charles City, Surry and York Counties) are included. Any WAB member will be approved to be a member of the Ride With GPS Club Account, which enables features normally requiring a premium Ride With GPS membership (an $80 value).
